Purgatory Riverbottom Camp | Trinidad, Colorado
24 July 2018
Got in to Trinidad the day before, camped at Trinidad Lake State Park, explored the park and set up camp. I went into town and had pizza at Bella Luna's, played some of the pianos around town and headed back to camp. The next day, I spent exploring the city of Trinidad before checking in with my host, Dusty, at the Purgatory Riverbottom Camp. Dusty was super helpful and gave me the rundown on the area and we all hung out for the afternoon.
That afternoon, Penny, one of the other hosts, came by to say hello. She had such a sweet spirit, I loved getting to know her.

Woke up to the sound of the creek running by, birds chirping; a cool breeze blows through my tent. This place is so peaceful. I make breakfast and head into town for coffee, the Purkatory Coffee House. I found them days prior, their snickers latte was just perfect. Later, I made my way back to camp and met up with Dusty and Jazmin and made lunch. We ate veggies and hopped in the river.
If you're looking at visiting Trinidad and saving some money on accommodation, this is a lovely spot and cheaper than camping at the state park or getting a hotel room. You can book this spot below through hipcamp!
