Adventure Club - Riverwalk
What we thought was going to be an ordinary bible study by the river, turned into quite the adventure. We were joined by four mormon guys that we met just moments before the bible study started, then met a man while we walked down the riverwalk, who told us stories of his life.
We spoke on Matthew 4:1-11 on Jesus being tempted in the desert. Pointing out how Jesus overcame temptation by the Word of God.
Encouraging scriptures about temptations and overcoming them:
“Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.”
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
“For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
